Asian firemen are not hot

I have become really skeptical of people coming up to me. A fireman tried to hand me a little fire truck pencil sharpener today as part of their fire safety awareness program, and I thought he wanted a donation in return. So I was walking and talking, not really paying attention to my surroundings, and I walked past the fireman. He kind of waved the fire truck in my face, but I guess I wasn't paying attention. I don't know...I'm always in my own world. This is our conversation:

Fireman: What? You don't want it?
Me: Oh...what? Is it free?
Fireman: Yes, of course.
Me: Oh, OKAY!

I will forever have the mindset that people are trying to sell me something or hand me flyers, so when people are genuinely kind or helpful, I always think there is an ulterior motive. In most cases, I am right, but in this rare instance, the fireman just wanted to give me a pencil sharpener, and I brushed him off. :( I feel so badly about that. This is what Asia has done to me.

Oh yeah, Asian firemen are not hot.

Almost time to go

I said good-bye to my CRM group members today. I met them in the lab to finish writing our 20 page report, which was due at midnight. They told me I didn't have to write the report, so I said okay! It's great being an exchange student...low expectations! I wrote one page though because it was 10:45pm and no one could come up with a response to the question. This was the one group I dreaded working with because they're all girls and local students at that, but it turned out to be the group I enjoyed the most. We came in 2nd in the project competition and received cute, little certificates. I don't think I contributed to the project much...I mean, I was there and I did stuff, but my model wasn't the one that we chose to submit to the professor, so I feel useless as usual. I proofread the paper though? Anyway, I told them I probably will never see them again, and they gave me a HUG! I can't remember the last time I received one. That's so sad. I'm going to miss them...

I'm almost done! Only one final next Friday, then off to Beijing!

Hong Kong University of Stress and Tension

I can't breathe...

The title of this entry came from my group member. Apparently, HKUST's nickname is The Hong Kong University of Stress and Tension. It definitely lives up to its name.

Side note: Happy, happy birthday Jenny! Finally 21! I wish I was there. (I saw a picture of you making the number 21 with your fingers, and I immediately thought you were throwing up the fob.) =/ I've been in Hong Kong too long...

Happy birthday to you too, Barbara!

Best flash EVER

Check out my masterpiece: http://ihome.ust.hk/~bm_tmx/Island_yay.html

I laugh every time I watch it. If you think it's lame, don't tell me because I like it. My flash skills are almost non-existent, so it is pretty darn good...for me. I'm all about the kindergarten look. :)

Group projects til I die!
